Lyrics:

Yeah moon so bright, my eyes are weeping
Electrified tide of brilliant light
Venturing out, through the pounding ocean
Milky Way say she's is a friend of mine
Aw yeah
Just a friend of mine
Just a friend of mine

Yeah waves call my name
Ride on Space Cowboy
Smoking that kine, high stepping through the night
And the stars all align to the home of my heroes
And the Milky Way, she's is a friend of mine
Just a
Just a friend of mine
Just a friend of mine, friend of mine
She's just a friend of mine, yeah
Just a friend of mine

Quiet my soul to laser focus
Tame the wild seas for your son tonight
An amphitheater formed from the clouds above me
Laugh as I drop into a perfect ride
Aw Yeah
To the perfect ride

The waves call my name
Ride on Space Cowboy
Smoking that kine, high stepping through the night
And the stars all align to the home of my heroes
And the Milky Way, says she's is a friend of mine
Yeah

Now I'd like Mr Pritchtastic Fantastic
To take us to the funky town, funky town
To the funky town Space Cowboy funky town outer space
If you're out there, do the robot

Waves so high, my body's peaking
Psilocybin ride through electric nights
Man I've made my peace
With the pounding ocean
And the Milky Way says she's a friend of mine
Aw Yeah
Just a friend of mine
Just a friend of mine
Yeah the Milky Way say, she's friend of mine
|She's just a friend of mine, she's just a friend of mine, yeah

I got a little story about this song too
Couple years back ten years back, seventeen years back ago
We were hanging out drinking at the Office
And my and my friend said said let's go
Let's go surfing baby by moonlight, let's take it on down to Swammi's beach
Anybody that surfs Swammi's beach knows
By day it's crowded as hell, at night there's nobody out
By day it's crowded as hell, at night there's nobody out
So we go in the parking lot
My buddy say, here's a little mushroom here's a little mushroom maybe two
My friend say, here's a little mushroom here's a little mushroom maybe two
That when I had to say

Quiet my soul to laser focus
Tame the wild seas for your son tonight
An amphitheater formed from the clouds above me
Laugh as I drop into a perfect ride
Aw Yeah
To the perfect ride
You boy's ready to take it to the bridge

The waves call my name
Ride on Space Cowboy
Smoking that kine, high stepping through the night
And the stars all align to the home of my heroes
And the Milky Way, she's is a friend of mine

Yeah hold it
Yes I stand with my old guitar, to you I'll be faithful
Just give me little action every now and then
And when I pluck upon these steel strings
It all comes to a stand still
My love song written for the southern wind
For the southern wind
For the southern wind, southern wind, southern wind
For the southern wind
Southern wind, southern wind, southern wind
My love song, for the southern wind

About the Song:

"Space Cowboy" is a shout out to all the cosmic cowgirls and cowboys from East to West. All summer long, the band has been playing this new funky new jam to our local fanbase. It tells the story of a local surf break in Encinitas that we sometimes surf by moonlight. A few times, psychedelics were involved, the Milky Way stars exploded around us, our imaginations were set on fire, and the sky's constellations came to life.

Such is the life and times of a soul surfing space cowboy. Enjoy.

About the Day
Days rarely get any better than these. It was a fine June Saturday in Carlsbad, California and it was a perfect way to say goodby to family, friends, and the band. In a few days I would be gone: flying off to Greece for the remainder of the month, then coming back stateside for a family reunion in Upstate New York.

My oldest just graduated Carlsbad High, kids were out in numbers, the summer was in full effect. Everyone was out in full force. To meet the crowd, we had a bunch of new material. We played 4 songs that we had never really played as arranged that night before, but we were feeling it. We had just finished programming the new Nord Stage 4 we picked up of the keyboard player, Mike Pritchard. Thus the reason why the keys sound like an interstellar spaceship.
