Lyrics
Bring the horses to water, the last light of the sun
Wear that dirt & sweat with pride, today’s works all done
Today’s works all done

It’s a simple life, but we know what’s right
Part of his plan, God provided the land
Can I hear an Amen my friend

It’s a simple truth, from the seed to the root
The fruit of our toil, Springs forth from the soil
Sustenance
again

Clean your hands and wash your face, leave those dirty boots by the door
Stow away the tools of the trade there’s no need to work anymore
There’s no need to work anymore

When the veil of the evening falls, stars hail in the night
Gather round with the loved ones, feel the warmth of the fire
Feel the warmth of the fire

Look outside through window son, such a beautiful sight
Our good friends the Washingtons, are out in numbers tonight
They’re out in full force tonight

About the Song
2024 started with family. Most time was spent with friends and family scattered throughout the suburbs of Philadelphia. Between celebrations, I put pen to paper in the front room of the old family farmhouse, where my brother Tommy left me a guitar to use while I was in town. In that room, the friendly ghosts of my past, memories of my ancestry, of acts of unconditional love, like condensation gathering. So much has happened in that house that it overflows with soul.

Places like these are where songwirters belong. A place where the mind swims in a river of inspiration which saturates the heart with emotion. Emotion from the living, those who've past on, and those who've resigned to death. That room has millions of songs in it, all you have to do is take a seat and listen to your heart.

About the Day
Days rarely get any better than these. It was a fine June Saturday in Carlsbad, California and it was a perfect way to say goodby to family, friends, and the band. In a few days I would be gone: flying off to Greece for the remainder of the month, then coming back stateside for a family reunion in Upstate New York.

My oldest just graduated Carlsbad High, kids were out in numbers, the summer was in full effect. Everyone was out in full force. To meet the crowd, we had a bunch of new material. We played 4 songs that we had never really played as arranged that night before, but we were feeling it. We had just finished programming the new Nord Stage 4 we picked up of the keyboard player, Mike Pritchard. Thus the reason why the keys sound like an interstellar spaceship.
